Taking responsibility for our actions
We take responsibility for our actions, individually and as an organisation, through our Five Pillars of Corporate Responsibility.
Every day, we look to make a positive contribution to the health and well-being of our customers, the communities in which we work, and the world in which we live.
Our people
Our corporate goals start with a focus on great people. We are redoubling our efforts in this area by enhancing the way we recruit talented people and provide opportunities for development.
Sustainable sourcing
One of the key challenges facing mankind is that the supply of raw materials is increasingly unable to keep up with demand. We have identified a number of key areas we believe we are able to address and do something positive about.
Wellness and nutrition
Healthy eating is beneficial for the economy, society and individual well-being. Balanced Choices is a company-wide drive to improve nutritional awareness across all our food offerings. Steamplicity, our unique cooking system which cooks fresh food to perfection, has increased our ability to offer high-quality and nutritious food in the workplace.
Environment
We have defined environmental objectives and targets for the business which will focus on our energy, waste and water management. We have successfully managed to reduce our transport management and pollution prevention through running 30% of our delivery vehicles on bio-diesel and reducing our food miles by two million.
Community
We recognise and appreciate our responsibilities to the communities in which we work and live. Our Community Investment Programme has helped thousands to reach their potential in education, employment and social inclusion. In addition to our two-year partnership with Cancer Research UK, we also contribute to a large number of UK charities via the Payroll Giving scheme.
